Couture Cupcakes & Warhol

I’ll be honest–this post has nothing to do with job hunting (thus the “off topic” label). No resume writing, networking, or job hunting happened today. After a 12-hour stint of reading portfolios Saturday, I took Sunday off and went with Marie to an art exhibit downtown that featured 30 original Andy Warhol prints. It was a very cool setup with music by The Velvet Underground and Nico supplying a sufficiently psychedelic mood. The print I returned to several times was The Star from Warhol’s Myth Portfolio (here’s the point where I stop writing about pop art because I don’t want to pretend I’m an expert discussing a cultural artifact). On the way home, we stopped at a delightful shop called the Cupcake Gallery that had recently opened. I bought a banana pudding and a peach cupcake. Both cupcakes were delicious: the crumb of the cake had a slightly coarse texture reminiscent of homemade cake (unlike the boxed mixes that always turn out impossibly fluffy), and the buttercream was whipped into an airy, lightweight mass, just subtly tinted on the peach and simply white on the banana pudding version. They both were very good, and I don’t use that adjective lightly when it comes to food. After I ate my share, I wanted more.

Hi Elane this has a very interesting synchronicity because just a few weeks ago I went to an Warhol exhibition here in Oldenburg too. The Exhibition still is running interesting isn´t it ?

The Picture I liked most was the Jacky (you will have to google it because the comment field doesnt support linking…)

But this is the moment when I will have to stop talking about synchronicity because I didn´find any Cupcake Gallery at all like you can suppose.

h: I’m sure the exhibit in Oldenburg was a little bigger than ours…but I bet you didn’t get a sticker that says, “I saw Warhol”! Of course I can’t find mine and will have to go without it tomorrow. Pity.
